In short: As part of our ICSE online tuition, Progmetics teaches ICSE Class 10 Maths live online to students across the UAE, in ICSE-only classes of up to six, with board-experienced teachers. Classes follow the CISCE Mathematics (51) syllabus for the 2027 exam: one three-hour, 80-mark paper plus 20 marks of internal assessment. Maths is part of Regular Online Tuitions at AED 450 a month for five subjects, excl. 5% VAT, and you can watch a free demo class first.

What the ICSE Class 10 Maths exam looks like

CISCE sets one Mathematics paper for all ICSE Maths candidates. There is no Standard or Basic split as in CBSE.

The paper layout above is taken from the 2025 paper as CISCE published it. CISCE releases specimen papers to show the format, so check the latest specimen paper and date sheet on cisce.org before the exam. Since 2024, CISCE has also included competency-focused questions that test application and reasoning, not just recall.

What the Class 10 syllabus covers

The CISCE syllabus for the 2027 exam groups Class 10 Maths into seven areas:

  1. Commercial Mathematics: GST (including SGST and CGST), banking through recurring deposits, and shares and dividends.
  2. Algebra: linear inequations, quadratic equations, ratio and proportion, the factor and remainder theorems, 2×2 matrices, arithmetic and geometric progressions, and coordinate geometry (reflection, section and midpoint formulas, equation of a line).
  3. Geometry: similarity, loci, circles, and constructions of tangents and of circles around and inside a triangle or regular hexagon.
  4. Mensuration: cylinders, cones and spheres, including combined solids and melting and recasting.
  5. Trigonometry: identities, and heights and distances using trigonometric tables.
  6. Statistics: mean, median, mode, histograms, ogives, quartiles and the inter-quartile range.
  7. Probability: simple single-event problems.

Commercial Mathematics, matrices and loci are where ICSE differs most from CBSE Class 10, whose syllabus has none of them. Our CBSE vs ICSE guide for UAE parents compares the two boards in full.

Internal assessment: 20 marks earned during the year

A fifth of the Maths mark comes from assignments, not the exam hall. Students complete at least two assignments. The subject teacher marks them out of 10, and an external examiner, who must not teach Maths to that class, marks them independently out of 10. The school sends the total to CISCE. Marks are given for preparation, concepts, computation, presentation and understanding.

CISCE’s suggested assignments are practical: planning a home budget, surveying the bank accounts people use, or tracking shares in a newspaper. We help students plan and present this work well, alongside their school, so these marks are earned rather than left to chance.

Where students lose marks: what CISCE’s examiners found

Each year CISCE publishes an Analysis of Pupil Performance. The October 2025 report covers the 2025 ICSE Maths paper, sat by 240,954 candidates, with an average of 64 marks out of 100.

The topics examiners found students struggled with included:

  • GST, SGST and CGST calculations
  • the maturity value of a recurring deposit
  • premium and market prices of shares
  • finding the equation of a line
  • working out other parts after proving triangles similar
  • locus constructions and drawing a circumcircle
  • heights and distances, and trigonometry with non-standard angles
  • reading values from an ogive

Examiners also noticed that fewer candidates chose the Section B questions that included geometry, and suggested many students prefer direct calculation. Avoiding geometry narrows the choice in Section B, so we teach it head-on.

Their advice to candidates matches how we teach answer technique:

  • Show every step, with rough work on the same page as the answer.
  • Give reasons in geometry, such as the theorem or property used.
  • Leave all arcs and traces visible in constructions.
  • Round off only at the final step.
  • Use the tables for square roots and non-standard angles.
  • Use graph paper and the scale given in the question.
  • Practise previous years’ papers and the CISCE specimen paper.
  • Keep the last 10 to 15 minutes to check answers.

How our ICSE Class 10 Maths classes work

  • ICSE-only classes. Every ICSE grade has separate batches, separate teachers and separate assessment.
  • Board-experienced teachers. Our teachers: Maths has separate teachers for Grades 3 to 5, 6 to 8 and 9 to 12, and board-year batches are taken by board-experienced staff only.
  • Small, live classes. Up to six students, so every child is named and asked directly.
  • A 55-minute rhythm. Recall, teach, practise, check, and set homework: a short video and a quiz, about twenty minutes.
  • Grades 9 and 10 as one arc. The two ICSE years are taught as one course, so Class 9 foundations carry into Class 10.
  • Past papers and answer technique. Past-paper and answer-technique work is built into Secondary 9 to 10.
  • Reports you can use. Chapter-level reporting, attendance alerts after two missed classes, and readiness reviews from Grade 9.
  • Open doors. You can join any class, unannounced. See how classes work.

Classes run Monday to Friday, in a slot you choose between 2:00 PM and 9:00 PM Gulf Standard Time.

Straight answers

Frequently asked questions

How much is online ICSE Class 10 Maths tuition with Progmetics?

Maths is included in Regular Online Tuitions: AED 450 a month, excl. 5% VAT, for five subjects, one each weekday, in live classes of up to six. That is one Maths class a week, four a month. For Maths on its own, Specialised Subjects costs AED 600 a month one-to-one or AED 500 a month in a group of three, excl. 5% VAT.

Are ICSE students taught separately from CBSE students?

Yes. Every ICSE grade has its own batches, teachers and assessment. ICSE Class 10 Maths covers topics CBSE Class 10 does not, such as GST, banking, shares and dividends, matrices and loci, so mixing the two boards would short-change both.

What is the ICSE Class 10 Maths paper pattern for 2027?

One three-hour paper of 80 marks, plus 20 marks of internal assessment. In the 2025 paper, Section A (40 marks) was compulsory and opened with 15 multiple-choice questions, and Section B (40 marks) asked candidates to answer any four of seven questions. Some questions may need logarithmic and trigonometric tables.

How is ICSE Class 10 Maths internal assessment marked?

Students complete at least two assignments set by the teacher. The subject teacher and an external examiner each mark the work independently, out of 10 marks each, for a total of 20. The school sends the marks to CISCE.

Which ICSE Class 10 Maths topics do students find hardest?

CISCE’s report on the 2025 exam includes GST calculations, recurring deposit maturity value, share prices, the equation of a line, similar triangles, locus and circumcircle constructions, heights and distances, and reading values from an ogive. Fewer candidates chose the questions that included geometry.

Is there a second chance if the ICSE Maths exam goes badly?

CISCE holds an Improvement Examination in the same year as the main exam, in a maximum of two subjects. It is a different system from CBSE’s optional May exam, which allows up to three subjects.

When are the classes, and how long are they?

Monday to Friday, in a slot you choose between 2:00 PM and 9:00 PM Gulf Standard Time, with a different subject each weekday, so Maths is one class a week. Each class is 55 minutes, taught live, with up to six children.

Can I watch a class before we pay?

Yes. Book a free demo class and sit beside your child in a real, running class. One free demo class, and a second if you need it. Once enrolled, you can join any class unannounced.
